GenAlEx Analysis Tools for Population Genetics from March 19-March 20, 2014, University of Cape Town

Dr Michael Whitehead (University KwaZulu Natal / Australian National University) will be running a 2 Day  Workshop titled  "GenAlEx Analysis Tools for Population Genetics" from March 19-March 20, 2014 in the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Cape Town.

The following key topics will be covered

•             A short introduction on use of microsatellites in population genetics
•             Experimental design
•             An Introduction to GenAlEx
•             Fstats and heterozygosity
•             Standardized measures of differentiation
•             PCA for visualization of genetic data
•             AMOVA
•             Spatial autocorrelation
•             Assignment tests
•             Exporting data to other packages

This will be hands-on course, with lectures interspersed with tutorials on how to apply these tools using GenAlx software. Graduate students, postdoctoral students, researchers and academic staff are all welcome to attend.
