H3ABioNet and SAB Annual 2015 Meeting

The H3ABioNet and the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) annual meeting will take place in Cape Town from the 10th of November to the 13th of November 2015.

Meeting registration

and complete the registration page with your details. Please note that each H3ABioNet Node is responsible for the arrangement and costs of their visas, air travel, accommodation and certain meals for the duration of the workshop via their H3ABioNet annual travel budget. Please do indicate the dates that you will be attending the meeting in order to correctly provision for the daily conference package rates and catering numbers.

The Central Node will cover the Daily Conference Package (DCP) rates for 2 H3ABioNet Node members only. H3ABioNet Nodes are welcome to bring more then two members, but will have to cover the DCP rates (approximately ZAR 290.00 per a person per a day).

Accommodation and Airport Transfers

Block accommodation has been arranged with the Protea Hotel Mowbray that is within walking distance to the conference venue. The H3ABioNet meeting starts on the 10th of November and ends on the 13th of November 2015, so ideally one should arrive on the 9th of November and depart on the morning of 14th of November or the evening of the 13th (unless remaining for the GOBLET workshops). Please liaise directly with the Protea Hotel to arrange for your airport transfers.

Meeting venue

The H3ABioNet 2015 AGM will be held at the River Club venue within 10 minutes walking distance from the accommodation venue (Protea Hotel Mowbray). Tea breaks and lunches will be catered for and a Consortium dinner will take place at the Wild Fig on the 11th of November 2015. The conference venue is Halal friendly and any special meals will charged extra for and will be at the Node’s expense. Meals not covered by the meeting can be had at the Wild Fig or the River Club. Groups are welcome to organise private taxis (details available from the hotel reception) if they wish to have dinner at venues within Cape Town.

GOBLET Workshops

The GOBLET workshops will take place at the University of Cape Town Medical School on the 16th and 17th of November 2015. Attendance at the GOBLET workshops is free for H3ABioNet PIs and consortium members who can demonstrate that they provide training within the consortium. Please confirm beforehand via the registration form if you will be attending the GOBLET workshops in order to ensure the location and logistics are adequately prepared for the anticipated number of attendees as unregistered participants will not be permitted. Please also indicate if you will be attending the GOBLET workshop dinner on Tuesday the 17th of November 2015.

Note: Each Node is responsible for the costs of accommodation and other meals if they intend to stay to attend the GOBLET workshops.

South African Visa requirements

Please confirm with your nearest South African Embassy what the current South African visa requirements are: (http://www.dfa.gov.za/foreign/sa_abroad/index.htm).

A generic list of documentation for a South African visa is provided below:
•    Signed letter of invitation confirming the purpose and duration of your visit
•    Proof of accommodation for the duration of the stay
•    A completed visa appliction form (available from your nearest South African Embassy )
•    A passport or travel document valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of your intended visit
•    Your passport must have at least one unused page for entry / departure endorsements
•    A yellow-fever vaccination certificate (if required)
•    Payment of the prescribed fee
•    Two colour passport photographs
•    A return or onward ticket if you are travelling by air
•    Proof of financial means to pay for your living expenses while in South Africa in the form of bank statements, salary slips etc
