Lecturer (Bioinformatics)- School of Molecular & Cell Biology, The University of the Witwatersrand

The University of the Witwatersrand has established a programme in Bioinformatics to complement its strong research and teaching programmes. We seek to appoint a Lecturer for Bioinformatics in the School of Molecular and Cell Biology, Faculty of Science, with an affiliation to the Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB).

Requirements: A PhD in bioinformatics or a cognate discipline with a demonstrable knowledge of bioinformatics theory and techniques.  Research and teaching experience in bioinformatics supported by a high level of computer literacy and the ability to write programs will be an advantage.

Duties: The main responsibilities will be undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and supervision of postgraduate projects.  Research collaborations with other researchers at Wits, especially in the SBIMB, will be encouraged.  There will be some administrative duties associated with the above responsibilities.
